Made by happy hands

Since our start, we have been working with factories and small sewing workshops where the makers receive a fair salary. We call that HAPPY HANDS.  This way you can buy a beautiful and sustainable product from us and the makers receive a fair wage and they can do their work under good conditions.

But now it turns out that there is a foundation called "MADE BY HAPPY HANDS". And if you read what they do: we think that's really cool!

"Made by Happy Hands" focuses on creating jobs for underprivileged women in developing countries. They want to give these women the opportunity to develop their talents while promoting a fair and sustainable way of life. One of the ways they do this is by supporting small-scale production companies in developing countries.

These production companies focus on sustainable fashion and make clothing from organic cotton, hemp, bamboo and other sustainable materials. They work according to fair trade principles and ensure that their employees receive a fair wage and work under good conditions.

In addition to supporting sustainable production companies, 'Made by Happy Hands' also works on awareness and education. They want to make people aware of the impact of the clothing industry on the environment and the working conditions of the employees. Through workshops and presentations, they want to inform people about sustainable fashion and its benefits.

3 projects in which 'Made by Happy Hands' makes a difference:

  1. India-'Khadi' project: The foundation works together with a local producer in India who specializes in making Khadi fabrics, a traditional fabric that has been produced in India for centuries. By supporting this project, underprivileged women are enabled to develop their skills and at the same time contribute to the promotion of a sustainable and traditional product.

  2. Kenya - 'Rusinga weavers' project: This project focuses on supporting local producers of handwoven fabrics in Kenya. The use of local materials and traditional weaving techniques contributes to sustainability and the preservation of Kenyan culture. The project provides employment to underprivileged women in the region.

  3. Guatemala - 'Mayan textiles' project: In Guatemala, 'Made by Happy Hands' collaborates with a group of Mayan women who make traditional textile products using local materials and techniques. By supporting this project, the skills of the Mayan women are maintained and developed and it contributes to the promotion of sustainable and traditional products.

These projects are just a few examples of the many activities of 'Made by Happy Hands'. By supporting small-scale production companies in developing countries, the foundation contributes to a fairer and more sustainable fashion industry.

How do "Made by Happy Hands" & GOTS work together?

They have a common goal to promote sustainability in the fashion industry. GOTS is an internationally recognized certification for organic textile products, which sets strict environmental and social criteria for the entire textile chain.

Happy Hands works with GOTS certified factories to ensure that the products they make are environmentally and socially responsible. By working with the GOTS-certified factories, Happy Hands can guarantee that their products are made from organic fibers, such as cotton or linen, and that the production processes meet high standards of environmental protection and social responsibility. In addition, Happy Hands also promotes GOTS certified textile products on their website, emphasizing the importance of eco-friendly and socially responsible fashion. This collaboration helps raise awareness among consumers about the importance of making sustainable choices when it comes to fashion.

In short, Happy Hands and GOTS work together to make the fashion industry more sustainable. They do this by ensuring that the products they make and promote meet high standards of environmental friendliness and social responsibility. Read more about GOTS certifications
